Has social media enabled Outsider Artists to join the mainstream Art World?
The written piece should:
– Set out the aims of the essay
– Start with Outsider Art – what is it – traditional definition
– how has definition morphed over time
– Define Mainstream established Art
– Discuss how social media has democratised the Art World and enabled Outsider Artists to have access to the broader community
– argue that this is the case – using social media as an example or technology in general – internet etc – opened up access to non established artists. In general – argue for – that it is true – but you can categorise outsider artists into different types and say perhaps its not true for everyone e.g. – those loner artists with mental illness – disability etc – how would they access via the social media – see what is to argue for or against and do that please etc
