If the company is within this database, then it is publicly traded.To identify a benchmark company in the start-up business’s industry, complete the following two steps:Collect the primary standard industry code (SIC) from the LexisNexis disclosure file of your chosen organization. (For example, the primary SIC code for Home Depot is 5211.)Enter the SIC in the Search Terms window to research the disclosure database. You should be able to locate all of that organization’s publicly traded competitors.
