Rhetorical Analysis.
Describe the ad in detail so your readers can easily visualize it without actually seeing it (summarize it). You should describe both the ad as a whole and its various parts (setting, props, characters, words, visual style.) Clearly identify the intended audiences (race, gender, profession, citizenship, etc.) for the text and the purpose behind it. Look beyond the obvious to the subtle hints û color sometimes indicates gender, word choice often indicates tone of voice and thus, persuasive tactics. This should be the smaller part of your essay. explain how it appeals to its target audience (think ethos, pathos, logos). This part of the essay should be specific and well-developed. (One or two sentences is NOT a well-developed analysis.)
Evaluate or criticize the ad in your conclusion only. You may want to argue for why you think it is persuasive or will appeal most strongly to its target audience.
