takes up 2 countries – there are 6 to choose from (Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Pakistan). Here are the guidelines for each paper:
[a] for each country describe the aesthetics of heavy metal where the aesthetics of heavy metal includes the following: music, lyrics, performance, expressiveness of musicians, expressive engagement of listeners or what it’s like to be at heavy metal concerts and engaging the music; then
[b] connect the aesthetics of heavy metal with the politics in the daily life of metalheads; finally,
[c] tell readers what it’s like for you to come to know (if you’re coming to know this) how important heavy metal is to the lives of young Muslims.
HMI papers are typed, 1.5 spaced, 2 to 2.5 pages. See attached document for sample.
