My thesis statement:
The use of technology in the work place has it advantages and disadvantages. We now have access to the world at our finger tips with internet access, we can talk with someone on the other side of the world with video cameras or email. Technology has allowed us to be more productive at work, but at the same time you can find your employees taking care of personal things on company time. Technology can be a disadvantage at the work place, it will have your workers on social media website, shopping and talking with family and friend when they should be working.

It is important to balance technology and use social media appropriately for advertising and business advancement, but not for “personal use.” The employee you of social media in the work place can ultimately cause damaging effects to a business. Many times employees have used their employer’s social media account to post personal beliefs that most times do not coincide with the employer’s beliefs and subsequently causes conflict and amongst the employer and the public.
Management and employees must agree on clear rules about when and how to use social media and technology at work. Simple technology and social media rules can ultimately save a business. The rules must detail who is authorized to post on social media while at work and who has access to social media accounts while at work.
There must also be a clear and appropriate conversation, communication, and possible consequences for alleged over- or inappropriate use of technology and social media while at work. These consequences should include restricting the employee from having access to the business social media account and restricting the employee from mentioning the employer and or the business in any future social media post.
