Analyze and evaluate the contemporary correctional systems in the U.S. How effective is corrections in “correcting” behavior, i.e. maintaining public safety and reducing recidivism? What does the correctional system do well? What improvements are needed? What are the barriers to these improvements and what are the corresponding implications of making any changes to correctional practices? Be sure to summarize the current correctional climate and your proposed changes as well as the purposes of correctional interventions. You must make improvement suggestions, as our current correctional practices do not reduce recidivism, do not affect large-scale fender change, and often create barriers (collateral consequences) to future law-abiding behavior. Be sure to support your responses with no less than 5 peer-reviewed resources (these are unbiased, scholarly materials). You may use government websites. paper must be APA formatted including a cover page and reference page.
