“Your creative project will be connected to the topic of your Social Movement Analysis essay. The connection to your social movement may be in the form of strategies or methodology, and does not necessarily need to be connection via the social movement’s issues or goals.
Your goal with this project is to take action in order to fight for a social issue which you feel strongly about. You will document your chosen form of praxis (action based on understanding).
A Few Ideas:
Write a movement manifesto
Create a series of graphic images to promote movement ideas via social media
Create effective signage for use in a direct action protest – and perhaps attend a protest (if applicable)
Organize and encourage others to contribute to political change via letter/email writing, phone calls to politicians, etc.
Artists/Musicians: Create a song, art piece, etc. and offer it for use to a movement
Volunteering time: Working with a community center or organization who is already working on your chosen social issue.
Your own ideas!!!!!
Create an activist infographic
What you turn in:
Your Creative Project – this might be documentation of your work or the actual piece of art or song recording, etc.
Reflection: Write a brief (1-2 page) reflection in which you explain to me your choice of creative project, why you chose the strategy or methodology you did, and your experience of completing the project. Your reflection must show how your creative project benefitted (i.e. was informed by) your research.
