Demonstrate all that you have learned about academic writing this semester as you create and research your own topic. That means:
• coming up with your own arguable point, expressed clearly from the beginning ( in your thesis)
• knowing how to balance summary, analysis, and quotation
• introducing, leading into quotations, citing, and then discussing them afterwards,
• organizing a logical argument, including using strong topic sentences and transitions
• basing your argument on the texts, finding connections between your sources throughout your essay and then building on them yourself, countering ideas that you challenge in an effective way,
• developing your ideas well enough so that someone else can easily follow them, choosing the right words for the job, and using a concise, reader-friendly tone and writing
