Title: WhatsApp Awareness
General Purpose: To Persuade
Specific Purpose: To raise awareness and increase audience knowledge on WhatsApp.
1. Attention:
i. How does it feel to communicate with someone freely, either messaging, voice calling, or video calling without pop-up ads?
ii. I was away from school but wanted to read the notes because of the examination was around the corner. My friend sent me the notes that were more than 80mb. It was quick and easy to download from my WhatsApp. The good news is that I read the notes and passed the examination.
SHOULD STATEMENT: There is a need to embrace the WhatsApp because of the many benefits attached to it.
2. Problem:
i. Many people spend their money to send messages and videos. Communicating can be costly, especially if it involves the attachment of huge files or a long conversation over the phone.
ii. Many people are worried about the privacy of their messages because of the medium used.
iii. There are those who may want to know if indeed their recipients received their messages. Communication is two-way, and a message sent ought to be received by recipient for the communication to be complete.
3. Facts and Statistics on the use of WhatsApp
In 2019, WhatsApp boasts of 1.5 billion users in 180 countries, with one billion daily active users (Iqbal, 2019). Iqbal (2019) reports that in the U.S, there are 23 million active users and that there is extraordinary growth in the number of users.
Transition
Considering the many benefits of WhatsApp, it is essential to embrace it because it will be easier to save on communication, send up to 100mb files and video call (Kamel, Giustini & Wheeler, 2016).
4. Why Choose WhatsApp over other Apps
i. Security
End-to-end encryption feature in the WhatsApp is important because it ensures that the message is only shared between the recipient and the sender (Cetinkaya, 2017). Also, WhatsApp allows users to delete any message that they may have sent accidentally to the receiver.
ii. Affordability
Affordability is the term that coins the benefits derived from WhatsApp. All you need to do is have internet on your phone, and you’ll be able to use the app freely (Eyadat, 2016). You won’t have to spend on voice calls or even video calls.
5. How Solution can be Implemented
It is critical to let everyone enjoy the benefits that WhatsApp bring. All you need to do is send word of mouth to friends and relatives regarding the benefits.
6. Plan of Action
Use word of mouth and social media to spread the benefits of this communication technology. Arrange social meetings with your friends and let them know that WhatsApp enabled communication is free and secure.
Transition:
Your voice matters a lot in ensuring that the usage of WhatsApp features increases globally. Many people do not understand the benefits derived from using the App so, spread the word to let everyone around you enjoy.
7. Visualizing Results
If your campaign succeeds, the number of WhatsApp users are likely to increase (Cetinkaya, 2017). All the features will be effectively used. People will no longer spend on messaging as long as their phones have internet. Information shared between people will be secured because of the end-to-end encryption feature that WhatsApp has (Eyadat, 2016). It will also be easier to create WhatsApp groups.
Failure to persuade people to use WhatsApp may mean that millions of people will continue spending on messaging, unable to send large files of up to 100mb by a click and have their messages unsecured.
8. Conclusion
i. Spreading the word on the benefits of WhatsApp will ensure that many people embrace technology.
ii. WhatsApp has special features such as end-to-end encryption which gives it an edge over other communication apps or platforms.
A. Tie Back to the Audience
Do you know the amount of money you can spend on an annual basis in communication? Would you still want to spend more on communication? Have you ever been worried about the security of your message?
B. Concluding Remarks
Spending on messaging and voice calling is quite expensive. We can stop this by using WhatsApp and spreading the word to friends and relatives.
C. Call for Action:
Avoiding expenditure on messaging can only be achieved by embracing WhatsApp and letting everyone know about it.
