Healthcare organizations continuously focus on identifying opportunities and gaps in patient care and, as such, implement quality initiatives to address these issues. Improving quality of care contributes to staff and patient satisfaction and overall cost reduction and positively impacts brand experience.
One such area of focus on patient safety is the prevention of falls and fall-related injuries. This paper will examine factors contributing to a current increase in falls and fall-related injuries in South San Francisco Hospital (SSFH) and identify quality improvement initiatives to reduce and prevent these events from further happening.
