Writing the Results for an APA Style Research Paper
The third major section of the body of a research report is the results section. The results section presents a summary of the data and statistical analyses. Usually, a results section begins with basic descriptive statistics followed by the results of hypothesis tests.
For the Week 9 Research Project Activity, you will be conducting the analyses and writing up the results for your research project (due 3/15; worth 5 points). You will need to conduct analyses in JASP using the CSV data file provided on Canvas and follow the instructions provided in the Week 9 Research Project Instructions PPT in order to complete this assignment!
Results:
Paragraph 1: report the descriptive statistics for both your psychopathology variable and your personality variable in correct APA format using the instructions and results template provided in the Week 9 Research Project Instructions PPT (2 points)
For each questionnaire, participants rated statements using a 5-point Likert scale: (1) Very Inaccurate, (2) Moderately Inaccurate, (3) Neither Accurate Nor Inaccurate, (4) Moderately Accurate, or (5) Very Accurate
In order to get the possible total score for each questionnaire, multiply the number of items of the scale (this information can be found in the Week 8 Research Project Activity) by 5 (because a 5-point scale was used for each questionnaire).
Paragraph 2: report the hypothesis test results in correct APA format using the instructions and results template provided in the Week 9 Research Project Instructions PPT (2 points)
Include the scatterplot of your variables and label it as Figure 1 using the instructions provided in the Week 9 Research Project Instructions PPT (1 point)
FYI: figures and tables are not included in the results section of research papers but are instead placed at the end of the paper. For your final research paper that you turn in at the end of the semester, you will place your scatterplot at the end of your paper.
