3.4 MIC schools aim to have students working fluently in the English language by Grade 12. How effective is the provision?
Consider:
What evidence is available to show student progress in each language?
What evidence is available to show the professional competence of teachers who teach in a second or third language,
The range of language learning support for students (e.g. ICT software, library resources, after-school clubs)
And the overall effectiveness of the English language provision in terms of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Summarise the current position regarding subjects being taught by language, reference to attainment of students, resources available, and any teacher training requirements. Review the support available to students. Is this sufficient? Could it be better? If so, how? Is there evidence of support in the school environment?
