Assessing the Effectiveness of Using Talent Development as a Business Strategy within the Aviation Sector of Guyana
The aviation industry, like all other business sectors, requires proper strategies to improve productivity and quality. The aviation sector in Guyana is still in its developmental stage, which calls for implementing appropriate business strategies to spur rapid development within the sector. Talent development is arguably one of the most unexplored yet very consequential business management areas in Guyana’s aviation industry (Dalal and Akdere 2018, p.345). For this reason, conducting scholarly research on talent development as it relates to the management of human resources is very crucial as it is poised to provide valuable insight into how talent can be leveraged effectively within the aviation sector of Guyana.
There is a growing disconnect between the demand for skilled labor in the aviation industry and the skillset possessed by those already working there. The proposed research, therefore, purposes to investigate the issue of skill deficit and mismatch within the aviation sector of Guyana with the intent of showing how talent development can be used to improve the sector effectively. The rationale behind the research on the aforementioned issue is to provide a framework of guaranteeing the highest standards within the aviation sector by fostering talent development in the industry. Additionally, this research will investigate how strategies for talent development can be effectively implemented within the sector, including the likely challenges that may hinder their implementation.
Objectives
The proposed study’s primary purpose is to investigate the applicability and effectiveness of talent development in Guyana’s aviation industry. As such, this study endeavors to demonstrate how talent management and development can stimulate growth within the aviation sector by improving employees’ skill set in the industry. Consequently, the proposed research will provide a theoretical basis for talent development in an organizational setting concerning effective human resource management strategies (Mehdiabadi and Li 2016, p.264). Ultimately, the researcher seeks to provide an evidence-based talent management framework for Guyana’s aviation sector to reinvigorate the industry.
In addition to the main objective outlined above, the specific objectives of the proposed research are:
To demystify talent development as a business strategy that can be applied in all sectors of the economy, especially within the aviation sector.
To investigate how talent development can be aptly applied in Guyana’s aviation sector as a business strategy to stimulate the continued growth of the sector.
To investigate the extent of talent improvement strategies within the aviation industry of Guyana, essentially identifying human resource management areas that need improvement.
To determine the roles of management and employees in an organizational setting to implement effective talent development strategies, including barriers that hinder and best practices that facilitate talent improvement within the aviation sector at large.
To determine the impact of implementing talent development in Guyana’s aviation industry regarding the sector’s overall growth.
The proposed study aims to answer the following research questions:
How are talent management strategies used as business strategies in Guyanese aviation organizations?
How can organizations within Guyana’s aviation sector restructure their talent management processes?
How can the challenges of introducing new talent development strategies in aviation organizations be mitigated?
What is the impact of implementing new talent management strategies in various aviation organizations in Guyana?
