Discuss 1.2: Trauma Focused CBT and Interpersonal Therapy
In this course we have beginning training in two empirically supported treatments, Trauma Focused CBT and Interpersonal Therapy. We also will spend time on skills and capacities that are helpful across the types of social work practice roles
This week in the Webb and Greenspan readings, they share ideas about how to approach clinical work with children and families.
Part of this is being receptive and watching and listening for how the child and the family engage with you and whatever service you are offering.
Greenspan reminds us that everything a child does is expressing something about themselves, their developmental challenges, and
what they are experiencing in the major relationships in their lives.
Consider one or more of these in your post:
What reflections does this bring up about your own practice experience?
Reference Barbie and her family in “No Place like Home”.
How does Barbie (or her brother) show directly or undirectly their developmental process, the emotional issues they struggle with?
How would you imagine starting social work practice with Barbie, her brother, or with the family.
