Write a 250-word summary of Anderson’s overall argument. You don’t need to capture every detail of what she says.

This assignment has several parts. You must do all of them.

1) Read the attached pages by Elizabeth Anderson on the topic of “Private Government”. Read pages 1-7, skim 7-17, then read 17-22, 33-36, 37-48, and 57-71.

2) Write a 250-word summary of Anderson’s overall argument. You don’t need to capture every detail of what she says. Your goal is to describe in your own words, the main idea she is trying to get across.

3) Then, in about 500 words, you must say something about how one of the main theoretical views of the course would respond to her argument. What would classical/neoclassical, Keynesian, or Marxist political economists say about her ideas? Choose ONE of those three views and say what you think they would think of Anderson’s ideas. You do not need to cite any texts, but you should explain broadly why you think your chosen theoretical perspective would respond in the way you say.

Note that a longer answer is not necessarily better, so you don’t have to write the full 500 words. Just use as much as space as you need to to make your point. You don’t need to write your answers in essay format. You can just jump in and answer the questions.
