The goal of the ethical critique is for students to integrate the book’s main themes with ethical issues facing our world forming a proper Christian response.Ethics is the understanding of morality, right or wrong, good or evil, virtuous or corrupt, upright or wicked. The task of Christian ethics is to determine how one should live their lives in honor to God and toward their fellow man.Examples of modernethical issues include racism, assisted suicide, legalization of marijuana, animal cruelty, domestic violence, gambling, etc.Assignment Explanation & Description
Students will read the Jesus > Religionbook by Jefferson Bethke.
Upon completion of the reading, students will select 3 to 4 main themes/concepts/principles/truths from the book.
Then using these 3to 4 main themes, students will interact and integrate the themes with ethical issues that people face today. For each of the 3to 4 main themes,students should do the following:
1.State the main theme from the book in a singular sentence.
2.Write one complete paragraph describing what the author meant by this main theme.
3.Write one complete paragraph describing an ethical situation that corresponds with the main theme.
4.Write one complete paragraph describing the proper Christian response to the ethical issue.
