You are writing an essay, NOT a paragraph
Be sure to acknowledge the writers for their ideas throughout the essay
You MAY use your own experiences as support for ideas, but write this essay predominately using 3rd person point-of-view language. (Instead of “I think students should….” —-“Students should….” Instead of “I agree that…”—“The author’s claims about ….are valid”)
Use present tense verbs unless you provide time markers for your readers.
If you quote material, you need a lead-in and a parenthetical citation that includes the author’s last name and page number: (Keeling and Hersh 2).
You will need to create a Works Cited page on the last page of your essay. List sources alphabetically by author’s last name. Do not number or bullet point your entries. You may complete this ahead of time and submit with your timed essay.
