You are planning the publication of a new collection of essays by your writer. Your particular collection is not necessarily a comprehensive one—picture a slim volume.. You will be writing the introduction to the collection.
Your task, in your introduction, is to write an explanation for your choices of the essays in the collection. The reader of this introduction should learn enough about your essayist to understand any themes that you consider important. Include any biographical and historical background that you consider useful to the reader, but the main source for your paper should be the essays themselves.
In your introduction, consider any or all of the following as bases for your selections: theme, subject matter, chronology, historical significance, or any other considerations you consider useful. You have made yourself the expert on this essayist – now prove it!
I want you to have the latitude to write this term paper in your own voice, so I am keeping the specific requirements down to a minimum. Your paper should consist of the following:
4-6 pages of text — 12 font, Times New Roman
A works cited page
Direct references to at least five essays *
At least three direct quotations of historical/biographical sources
At least three paraphrases of historical/biographical material
Copies of cited portions of secondary sources with cited sections highlighted
Be as creative in your approach as suits you. Since I am seeking something other than the same mundane term paper, don’t be afraid to try something different.
*If you are choosing very lengthy essays, this requirement may be bypassed.
