Many thanks for this. This is an interesting discussion around health care professionals and flu vaccination. At Masters academic level you should be avoiding personal opinion as this is anecdotal and therefore very descriptive, which affects large sections of the piece currently. The focus for the essay is around what influences, such as health beliefs, in wider society influence the prescribing relationship, so we can then as health care practitioners consider strategies to support individuals to make an informed decision, whether this is our colleagues or our patients. So for this topic considering perhaps why due to peer pressure, media etc health care professionals and the public avoid having the vaccine, where do the ‘myths’ come from?. Is it due to their health beliefs they feel the risk of them getting flu and having an issue is low perhaps?, this would tie in with the wider evidence concerning health belief models.
