The final phase of the Practice question, Evidence, Translation (PET)process is translation, which assesses the recommendations identified in the evidence phase for transferability to a desired practice setting. If appropriate, the practices are implemented, evaluated, and com-municated both within and outside the organization. Translation is the value-added step in evidence-based practice, leading to a change in practice (EBP), processes, or systems and in resulting outcomes. This chapter covers the translationphase of the PET process, which includes the practice decision, implementation, and dissemination. This chapter:
■Examines criteria that determine recommendation for imple-mentation
■Distinguishes among EBP, research, and quality improvement (QI)
■Specifies the components of an action plan
■Identifies steps in implementing change
■Describes potential forums for communicating result
