From a political standpoint, it is far too taxing to know what would objectively work for any sizable population living under democracy. Some believe that power should be used to help the whole community, while others think it far more conductive to worry about the individuals living under the those in power. In the novel, we see the powers that be fight to maintain order in a holistic sense rather than worry about the effects of the individual.
Thesis: Do you believe that the liberties of a collective supersede that of individual freedoms, or should the rights of the individual be prioritized to maintain a culture of goodwill?
In other words, Individual right vs Common good.
