I need a DISCUSSION about my lab report the discussion must be like this:
Not simply a re-statement of the results (Can summarise key results if complex)
• Explain and interpret the results that you obtained
• What are the implications of your findings in relation to the aims etc. that you set up at the start of your project?
• What are the limitations of your study?
• What further experiments would you do?
• Put your study in context with previous research in the area or related studies
• Be wary of over-interpreting your results but do not write-off everything you have done as worthless!
• A good discussion will leave the reader with a clear picture of what has been
found, what it means and how it is relevant to the broader context.
You should interpret and explain your findings in detail, write about their implications and then discuss your data in relation to previously published studies. Avoid simply re-summarising the results section. If you have set out hypotheses at the start of the project, you should make sure that you revisit then and assess the extent of evidence to support or reject them. Your research findings may not always agree with previously published studies. Lack of agreement among different experimental studies is common in life sciences. You should not be at all afraid to defend your own results, if they are the products of careful experimental work. Critical evaluation of your experimental approach and procedures is a key element in discussing the results of your work, but this is not an excuse to write-off all your results as flawed, just because they do not agree with other work.
SIGNIFICATIVE RESULTS
for Fucus serratus
btwn phosphates and time (decrease of quantity of phosphate increasing in time)
btwn nitrates and time
btwn nitrites and time
For Ulva linza
btwn salinity and phosphates ( more salinity less quantity of phosphates)
btwn phosphates and time ( decrease of phosphates increasing in time)
btwn nitrates and time
btwn nitrites and time
for Mytilus edulis
btwn clearance rate and salinity ( high level of clearance rate activity at high percentage of salinity)
btwn clearance rate and time at 10 psu ( decrease of clearance rate activity while increasing in time at 10 psu salinity) probably due to an uncomfortable environment.
