Students are required to critically examine at least 2 theories of attachment formation such as Bowlby’s monotropic theory of attachment and Ainworth’s ‘Strange Situation’.
Evaluation must include cultural differences on the notion of attachment from cultures outside of the UK/USA as well as the role of anxiety in attachment formation.
Using case studies, students will critically evaluate the impact and
long term social, emotional, and cognitive consequences of early separation, deprivation, and enrichment
