Identifying a specific type of childhood maltreatment that the student would like to explore in more depth in terms of the research into the assessment and treatment practice with children. The paper will consist of five parts as follows:
Part I
A reference to the sections of the Pennsylvania Code Relating to children which relates to the chosen maltreatment or type of abuse.
Part II
Identify the physical, behavioral, and emotional signs and indicators of this type of abuse. Distinguish between abuse and types of conditions which may look like abuse. Identify the family situations which increase the potential for this type of abuse.
Part III
Explore and share your personal attitudes about this type of child abuse and the person(s) responsible for the abuse.
Part IV
Identify ways to prepare parents and/or substitute caregivers for specific behaviors to expect from a child who has experienced this type of abuse. Think from the perspective of a professional social worker involved in treating the parent or caregiver (foster parent, kinship caregiver, adoptive parent) as well as the child. Describe the elements of treatment of victims of childhood abuse of the type identified in your paper.
