TOPIC of essay: Evidence Table and Synthesis
Please use the provided template to synthesize your literature you found so far to support the solution of your practice problem and to express practice recommendations (i.e., to answer your PICOT question). The goal is to have 5-10 primary research and/or systematic reviews. The template describes detailed expectations for each section. In addition, APA style (e.g., title page etc.,) and graduate level writing are expected.
Tip:
Start with the Research Evidence Tables (table 2 & 3; table 3 applies only if you have a systematic literature review) to dive deep into the details of your articles and grade the level of evidence using the SORT tool. You may already notice a pattern that clusters ideas across your body of evidence that supports your PICOT question.
Now that you know your articles, apply your knowledge to the Synthesis Matrix (table 1). In the first column of the Synthesis Matrix, you insert the main ideas you have identified across the articles. In the following columns, please describe briefly how each idea is addressed by each article.
Based on the ideas you have identified, please write up the synthesis of the literature. To synthesize is to combine two or more elements to form a new idea – the main ideas you identified via your synthesis matrix. Please keep in mind that you can support your statements with multiple citations according to the APA style rules. It is suggested to focus one paragraph on one idea. As per graduate-level writing, please consider writing an introductory and closing paragraph to round up your synthesis.
Last, you express practice recommendations to summarize the strength of the body of evidence and give a recommendation for your practice change – which is the answer to your PICOT question.
