Prepare a personal statement between 450-500 words for a petroleum engineering masters application. I would like the personal statement to also answer the following 3 questions:
Why have you chosen to apply to the University of Aberdeen to study this subject?
Which personal qualities do you possess that will help you to successfully complete this programme of study?
How will studying this programme help you when you return home and in your future career?
To strengthen the personal statement, I have also worked for a year in placement with QAFAC – Qatar acid fuel additives company as a shift engineer and my duty as the shift engineer was to supervise all that happens on the plant and make decisions in case of an emergency event. These responsibilities are for the safety and efficiency of the operation in the plant, this also includes the operation and maintenance of all equipment in the plant such as boilers, pumps, utility services and all other equipment involved in the plant. Some of the activities I carried out include:
• fuel transfers, chemical tests, safety inspections and compulsory operational changes
• Taking operating logs and providing data of the plant which includes graphs, these are done for the daily meeting a shift engineer leads every work day
• Cleaning the plant and equipment
• Responsible for monitoring any hot work done in the plant
