What is a Memo or Memorandum? It is basically a legal essay. As discussed in class in the legal world most people use the IRAC or C IRAC method of writing an essay. I have attached some samples and also information about those methods.
For the assignment you can use the Statement of Fact from the video regarding the Sovereign Citizen that had received traffic tickets for driving on the highway. Let’s assume he received traffic tickets for driving without a license, speeding 20 miles per the limited, having tinted windows and no insurance and no registration, fictitious plates. That the person in the video was driving on the New jersey parkway to get to his farm in Somerset County. He had to get on the parkway with his private farm truck because the local road was closed. While driving he was stop for going 85 miles when the speed limit is 55 miles, then he had tinted windows. When the state troopers pulled him over he said he was a sovereign citizen and has a legal right to drive on the highway. The troopers continued and asked for his license, registration and insurance card. The driver was unable to provide any of the documents. He was the asked to get out of the vehicle and the car had to be towed off the highway because it had no registration or insurance. The plate that were on the vehicle did not match that car and were registration to a 2000 honda civil that belonged to a jane doe. The man was issued the tickets and had to appear in Piscataway Municipal Court. He did and gave the same Sovereign Citizen argument as in the video. He was found guilty on all counts after a trial and give a fines and a 6 months license suspension.
The question is did the police have the authority to pull over the sovereign citizen on the New Jersey parkway and did the Municipal Court have jurisdiction over his case.
