A 1000 word (+/- 10% = 900 – 1100 words) essay about the water quality case study you chose. The word count does not include the appendix or the annotated bibliography. Use the feedback from the first 3 parts of this assignment to improve your analysis and written communication. (For example, use “Part 3 – write an introduction” as a rough draft of your introduction for this final essay). The wordiness penalty is 1 mark for every hundred words (or part thereof) that you go above 1100. For example, if your word count (not including the reference list) is 1110, the penalty would be one mark; if the word count is 1195, it is still 1 mark; if it is 1205, the penalty would be 2 marks.
An annotated bibliography/works cited list. Make sure you use APA citations within your paper (both in-text citations and a full bibliography are necessary) to back up any statements of fact and/or use of someone else’s ideas. What does “Annotated” mean? description of how you used the source. For example “used statistics on greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas”. Do not copy and paste a summary or abstract of the source – that is not an acceptable annotation. You must write the annotation yourself.
Include your revised/corrected DPSEEA analysis either as a figure in the body of your essay or as an appendix at the end of your essay.
A note on the quality of sources of information:
Your ideas may result from a variety of sources. Some of these may be highly reliable (high-quality) sources, such as peer-reviewed academic journals or government websites, while others may be generally undependable, such as personal blogs, product advertisements, or corporation websites. It is fine to include personal experiences and ideas from less reliable sources, however, the evidence you use to build your argument needs to be from reliable, higher-quality sources.
