Topic
Racial Inequalities in Wages, Income and Wealth
Question
What hindrances, if any, does race pose to wealth, income and wages, granted education is equal?
First, yes, race plays a larger role in wage, income, and wealth fairness over knowledge. You will need to re-structure the question so you are able to answer it with empirical research. Your question should read as follows, “How can wealth, wages and income be measured by race in determining equal opportunity?”. If you wanted to incorporate knowledge and intellectual know-how, you could ask, “What hindrances, if any, does race pose to wealth, income and wages, granted education is equal?”. What you are interested in Samantha is remnant of the several “Black sounding names” experiment many researchers have conducted. Look to this for some guidance.

Guidelines
Research paper (~20 pages in length)
(1) First, you should select a topic to explore and write a research question related to it. What would you like to know? Was there a part of this class that you found particularly interesting? Would you like to know more? Is there something that we did not cover in class (related to inequality) that you wish we had? This is your chance to do it! Here are a couple of documents to help you think about appropriate research questions:
(2) Next consider what you will DO to get answers to your question. There are a couple of possibilities:
* Option A: Traditional Research Paper – this is your typical report-style paper, where you have a question or topic of interest, you read and synthesize library resources and course readings, then you write a paper explaining what other sociologists have to say about the topic.
