In a rapidly developing world, it becomes more and more important to take advantage of the tools available to us to face problems head on to the best of our abilities. One of these tools available to us is Artificial Intelligence, or AI. The range of problems able to be countered by AI is justifiably large, but one focus is the use of computer science to benefit education. Challenges such as shortage of teachers, underrepresented students, unavailable resources, and lack of funding could be solved by AI. Smart tools and computer programs could improve the education of students around the globe, regardless of their location. For example, tools that let students learn at their own pace, or that help students develop their individual interests, could help kids that are unmotivated or uninterested in the traditional style of learning. Personally, I know how important motivation and an actual interest in learning is for kids. In my past experience as a Java teacher to both younger and older students, it became apparent that many students had different style of learning or a complete lack of interest for certain topics. Through interacting with them, I was able to get them interested in computer science and pursuing future coding projects. This would traditionally require a lot of attention by a teacher in the classroom, and time that they may not have available. With AI, a lot of students could benefit from personalized learning experiences, or even resources that they might not be able to normally access. To implement this solution, I would love to collaborate with artificial intelligence developers, experienced teachers, and others who influence the implemented school system. I strongly believe that with AI, education can be greatly improved.
