Plan and carry out a laboratory experiment in the field of cognitive psychology and write a 2500-3500 word report on ONE of the following topics:
A: Context dependent memory (long term memory retrieval)
B: Digit span (short-term memory capacity)
C: Stroop effect (selective attention)
D: Perceptual set: (attentional bias)
In your report you should:
Identify an appropriate title (1.1)
Develop an aim and hypotheses for the research project (1.1)
Write an introduction to show your understanding of the background to your chosen topic and previous research findings (1.2)
Provide a research proposal and outline plan (to be signed by tutor BEFORE data collection) (1.3)
Write a method section, which justifies your research method choices for the project and clearly explains how you carried out your project. Ensure that you include ethical guidelines (2.1, 2.2)
Present your data in a results section and analyse your findings (2.2, 2.3)
Analyse and evaluate your own results and research process in your discussion section (2.4)
Write up your report in an appropriate format: Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, reference list, Appendices. Your work should include in-text referencing using the Harvard referencing system. (3.1)
