The personal as the political in Du Fu. Analyze examples of how Du Fu portrays personal or private experience in relation to the crises of state and society unleashed by the An Lushan rebellion. How does he show the rebellion impinging on his own life, and on the lives of ordinary people? Poems to compare and contrast include “A View in Spring” and “Jiang Village III.”
Du Fu story and his writings start at page 457-484 in the Stephen Owen pdf, it should be page 413-440 on the actual pages.
